We also collect job-listing and employer information from job boards, applicant-tracking systems, employers, public websites, and data providers. If you sign in through or connect a third-party service, we receive the information that service is authorized to provide. Third-party services control their own privacy practices.
Do not provide information that an application does not require, including financial-account numbers, government passwords, or another person’s personal information without authorization. If an application asks for voluntary self-identification information, you control whether to provide it, subject to the application’s requirements and available product controls.
We use personal information for the following purposes:
Where the EEA, UK, or similar law applies, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you; our legitimate interests in operating, securing, supporting, and improving the Service; your consent for optional cookies, certain marketing, and other processing where requested; and compliance with legal obligations. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider the impact on your rights. You may object as described in Section 8.
LifeShack uses automated systems to compare your profile and preferences with job information, infer search criteria, generate or tailor application materials, answer supported application questions, and complete applications you authorize. These systems use information you provide, job-listing information, your saved preferences and controls, and technical information about supported application workflows.
We may send the minimum content reasonably needed for a feature—such as résumé text, job descriptions, profile details, or an application question—to AI model providers acting as service providers. Their processing is governed by our arrangements with them and applicable law.
AI output can be inaccurate or incomplete. You remain responsible for keeping your information accurate and for using available review, pause, preference, and blocklist controls. LifeShack does not make an employer’s hiring decision, and our matching or automation does not itself produce a legal or similarly significant decision about you. Employers and job platforms independently decide how to process and evaluate applications.
We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients:
We may also disclose information with your direction or consent, or create and use aggregated or de-identified information that we do not reasonably attempt to re-identify.
LifeShack does not sell personal information for money. Some optional advertising and conversion-measurement technologies may disclose identifiers and internet or device activity to advertising partners in a way that may be considered “selling,” “sharing,” or use for targeted advertising under certain U.S. state privacy laws.
You can opt out by selecting “Accept Necessary Only” or disabling marketing technologies in Cookie Settings. Where required, we also treat a recognized browser-based opt-out preference signal, such as Global Privacy Control, as a request to opt out for that browser. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of people under 16.
During the preceding 12 months, we may have:
We use sensitive personal information only to provide requested services, authenticate and secure accounts, process applications at your direction, prevent fraud, and for other purposes permitted without a right to limit under applicable law. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics for advertising.
We use cookies, local storage, pixels, and similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, analytics, session replay on eligible pages, affiliate attribution, and advertising measurement. Non-essential technologies are controlled through Cookie Settings. For more detail, including provider categories and choices, see our Cookie Policy.
We retain each category of personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, considering the duration of your account, the sensitivity and amount of the information, operational needs, security and abuse prevention, applicable limitation periods, and legal, tax, accounting, and reporting requirements.
You can delete your LifeShack account using available account controls or request deletion under Section 8. Account deletion does not remove information already submitted to an employer, job board, or applicant-tracking system. Contact the relevant recipient about its copy.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
Use available account controls, visit our contact page, or email privacy@lifeshack.com with the subject “Privacy Request.” Describe the right you want to exercise and the email associated with your account. We may verify your request by asking you to confirm account access or provide information that reasonably matches our records. We will use verification information only to process the request.
An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf. We may ask for proof of the agent’s authority and may ask you to verify your identity directly unless applicable law provides otherwise. To appeal a refusal, reply to our decision with “Privacy Appeal” and explain why you believe it should be reconsidered.
To opt out of optional marketing technologies, use Cookie Settings or a recognized opt-out preference signal. To stop marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link in the message. You may still receive non-marketing service messages.
If EEA or UK data-protection law applies, you may lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority where you live or work or where you believe a violation occurred. UK residents may contact the Information Commissioner’s Office. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern.
LifeShack is based in the United States, and we and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose laws may differ from those where you live. Where required, we use recognized transfer mechanisms such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, or other lawful safeguards. Contact us to request more information about applicable safeguards.
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, taking into account the nature of the information and the Service. No system or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and for notifying us promptly of suspected unauthorized access. We will provide breach notices when required by law.
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
The Service links to or interacts with employers, job boards, applicant-tracking systems, social-login providers, and other third parties. This Policy does not govern their independent processing. Review their privacy notices before providing information to them.
We may update this Policy as our Service, providers, or legal obligations change. We will post the revised Policy and update the date above. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent where required by law.
